The Fighting Illini men's track and field team finished competition at the Blue Raider Invitational today in Murfreesboro, Tenn., capturing three first-place titles and 17 top-five finishes on the day. The Orange and Blue had a stellar meet, with junior Andrew Zollner and freshmen Jared Richardson and Brian Beaird also posting personal bests in the outing.

Zollner won the pole vault with a personal-best height of 16'05.25" to kickoff a solid Illini performance. Richardson followed with a second-place outing in the 800m, recording a personal best time of 1:53.21. Also recording a personal best on the day was Brian Beaird in the 800m with a 1:54.67.

Additionally, sophomore Greg Shroka placed first in high jump with a mark of 6'06.00". Also finishing first for the Illini was Tim Kelly in the 3000m with a time of 8:49.29.

"It was a solid performance for us today, although we've got a lot of work to do," head coach Wayne Angel said. "We didn't show the amount of intensity that I was hoping for. Now we are just looking forward to competing at home again next week."

The Illini return to action at home when they host the Carle Health Alliance Invite on Saturday, Jan. 27.
