Final Stats

West Lafayette, Ind. - Illinois Sophomore Barbie Viney began competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, being held by Purdue at its Boilermaker Aquatic Center. The 50 Free participant finished 48th in the 50 Free.

"Viney looked a little timid today but she got her first swim out of the way and now she can relax and get into the meet more," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "She showed good speed but she just needs to work a few things out for tomorrow."

Viney finished 48th in the 50 Free prelims, posting a mark of 28:38.

Viney will return to the pool Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. for the preliminary round of the 200 Free. The finals will begin at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening.
